Kristin Heitzman's Indelible:
Great Story, Interrupted
From the first pages, Indelible catches your attention with an instant attachment to the characters. I was not aware that this was the second book in a series until after I read it, but I don't think it really hindered me from following the book. The characters are very strongly written and easy to follow, and the plot keeps rolling right along. I had no trouble staying up until 3am to finish it, although the end was a bit abrupt and I can only hope another book will follow to continue the story.
The only real problem I had was in the introduction of the antagonist - I flipped the page and suddenly had absolutely no idea what was going on. I appreciate the attempt at abstract portrayal to keep it suspenseful, but I had to re-read each of those sections more than once just to wrap my brain around them. The shift in writing style was just too extreme and I think detracted from the book.
That being said, I did enjoy the rest of the novel overall, and will probably pick up the first one to see what I missed!
